How To Ease Anxiety Through Meditation?

Do you find yourself losing connection with the present moment and missing out on how you’re feeling? There’s so much uncertainty around the world at the moment, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by anxiety. Practicing meditation at home will help you get through this difficult times. Studies show that meditation can reduce stress and improve focus. With our busy lives and the distraction that technology provides, it’s necessary to make time to simply sit with your thoughts.

Unlike other stress relievers, the goal of meditation is to control your mind and concentrate on the present moment. This means that you can’t obsess over your work that day or stress about problems. You don’t need go to a far place. Meditation can be done at home, before a workout and even on your lunch break.

Mindfulness Breathing is a type of meditation that will help you concentrate if you have trouble on focusing your mind. Bring your attention to your breath as it rolls in and out naturally. It provides a relaxing effect to fight anxiety and stress, while calming your body and mind. Try these types of meditation at home for a beginner-friendly experience.

1 Minute Relaxation Breathing: Use this meditation when feeling pressured or anxious for a quick stress relief.

1. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in for a count of four then exhale for a count of eight.
2. As you inhale, visualize the movement of oxygen through your respiratory system and imagine any stress you’ve been holding float away. Repeat 5 times.

7 Minutes Mindful Breathing: Use this meditation twice daily to develop better focus over time.

1. Sit comfortably with a long, straight spine & find a slow, oceanic breath. Begin counting your inhales and exhales from one to ten (inhale one, exhale one; inhale two, exhale two; etc.).
2. When you reach ten, start again but count backwards to one. Repeat this cycle five times.
3. When you’ve completed 5 cycles of breath-counting, simply continue to breathe at this calm, steady pace, for 2 to 3 minutes, visualize the breath moving through the respiratory system & appreciating its relationship with the body.
